Equipping Former Fosters To Build
All young adults deserve the chance to dream.
OAI provides a helping hand to former fosters so that they too have the same chance to dream and plan their future.
Young adults aging out of the foster care system are more likely than those in the general population to: drop out of high school, not complete a higher education or trade school, become addicted to drugs or alcohol, be unemployed, incarcerated, homeless, or be a parent at an early age and repeat the cycle of foster care. Many of the kids that age out of the foster system suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), much like many of our soldiers who have been in a combat situation.
